| 45-day Interim Alternative Education
Setting
School personnel may recommend up to a 45-day immediate
suspension to an interim alternative education setting if:
The alternative setting selected by the IEP team must allow the
student access to the general curriculum, provide the student special
education services, and address the student behavior described in
the functional behavior assessment.
45-day Interim Setting Procedure

The principal or designee will complete Form SP125 and forward
it to the district special education department. The administrator
will follow all parent notification procedures.

The principal or designee will decide whether to contact local
law enforcement authorities.

The principal and special education director will recommend
placing the student in an interim alternative setting.

The district out-placement coordinator will place the student
in the interim alternative setting.

Within 10 days, the out-placement coordinator or home school
psychologist will complete a functional behavior assessment.
