| DAVID B. KLINE, J.D., LL.M. Trial Advocacy
Graduated from Widener University School of Law in 1990, David B.
Kline began his legal
career while actually in law school. For 2 years, he served as "head law
clerk" of a 125 attorney insurance defense firm in center city Philadelphia.
He worked there for 2 more years as an attorney before being recruited to
work in plaintiff's personal injury litigation in 1993.
Since 1993, Dave has worked exclusively as a plaintiff's litigation
attorney, with a
"specialty" in emotional distress, limited tort and insurance bad faith
law. Dave has co-written two books on the law. The first was a national
treatise on emotional distress, published by WEST in 1998, entitled
"Emotional Injuries: Law and Practice." This book has been sold to
plaintiffs' personal injury and defense lawyers across the country. Dave is
considered by at least 2 former judges the "foremost authority in
Pennsylvania" on emotional distress law, and he has lectured to other
lawyers on that subject.
Dave co-wrote a second book, published in 2003, entitled "PA
Premises Liability: Law & Forms," primarily for the benefit of Pennsylvania
personal injury
lawyers. All of Dave's publications are intended to educate other lawyers
in those areas of the law.
In the last year or so, Dave has "branched out" into Special
Education law, litigating for the rights of learning disabled children in
PA. In his educational practice, Dave seeks to ensure that PA School
Districts provide appropriate educations for children who have problems
learning as other children do, even it means fighting to require the
District to pay for the child to attend a school outside the District- for
which the District pays "out of pocket" on a per student basis. Dave seeks
to ensure that "No Child Left Behind" really means no child is left behind.
Dave is admitted to practice law in 3 states: Pennsylvania,
Maryland, New York. He is also licensed to practice law in 3 federal
courts: the Eastern District of PA Federal Court, the U.S. 3d Circuit
Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court, to which he was
admitted to practice in 1999. He is also a distinguished member of the
Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania, Maryland and New
York Bar Associations and the Montgomery County Bar Association. He has
been the Chairman of the MontCo ADR Committee.
Finally, in addition to his law degree, Dave obtained a Masters
Degree in Trial Advocacy
from Temple University in 2000. He is also an instructor of paralegals and
has been teaching them legal research and civil litigation skills for the
past 12 years.
